Pamela “Gail” Gwaltney

Pamela “Gail” Gwaltney, 59, of Hiddenite, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, May 14, 2019. She passed away at Gordon Hospice House after a long battle with colon cancer and complications with multiple surgeries.

Gail was born on August 27, 1959, in Iredell County. She was united in marriage to her loving husband, Rickey Gwaltney, on December 31, 1977. They were best friends. Gail was an active member of Linney’s Grove Baptist Church. She taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and volunteered in other various ministries at the church.

For almost 20 years, Gail worked at Hiddenite Elementary School in the cafeteria. Prior to that, she stayed at home raising their three children. Her love for her family shined through in all aspects of Gail’s life. She loved taking family trips to the beach and going to see the leaves change in the mountains. She also enjoyed talking Bella, her dog, on walks and playing with her every day.

Gail is survived by her loving husband, Rickey; their three children, Ronnie (Megan) Gwaltney of Taylorsville, Shawn Gwaltney of Hiddenite, and Gina (Brant) Eagle of Hickory; her dog, Bella; two brothers, Barry (Darlene) Bowles of Ellendale, and Lynn Bowles of Hiddenite; along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and family friends.

Gail was preceded by her mother and father, Jerry and Sue Bowles.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 19, 2019 from 2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. at Linney’s Grove Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 3:30 p.m. with Rev. Gary Lawrence and Rev. Cliff Gwaltney officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Rev. Jerry Gwaltney officiating at the graveside.

Serving as pallbearers will be the Deacons of Linney’s Grove Baptist Church.
