Emogene M. Barnette

Emogene M. Barnette, 86, of Sulphur Springs Road, Hiddenite, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at Valley Nursing Center.

Emogene was born July 17, 1933, in Alexander County, the daughter of the late Burgess Millsaps and Nell Campbell Millsaps.

She had worked for Nationwide Insurance in Raleigh before retiring. She was a member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church. She enjoyed singing and playing the piano, gardening, but most of all she loved the Lord and her family.

Including her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jennis Millsaps, and a daughter-in-law, Beverly Barnette.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Dennis Barnette, Donald Barnette and wife Susan, Douglas Barnette and wife Wanda, and Dean Barnette; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren whom she loved very much; her brothers, Billy Millsaps and wife Cozette, Bobby Millsaps and wife Lois, and Larry Millsaps and wife Joy; and her sister, Lorene Wallace.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, August 16, 2019 at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church. Rev. Don Ingle will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
