Wanda Johnson Witherspoon Moose

Wanda Johnson Witherspoon Moose, 88, of Jenkins Moose Road, Taylorsville, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at Catawba Valley Medical Center.

Wanda was born August 29, 1930, in Rutherford County, the daughter of the late John Thurman Johnson and Annie Bell Harton Johnson.

She was employed by the Alexander County School Food Service and also the WIC program before retiring. She was a member of Liledoun Baptist Church for over 50 years. She enjoyed her flowers, gardening, and her grandchildren. She also loved to travel and going fishing with her husband before he passed.

Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hall Hoover “Dude” Moose; four sisters; and three brothers.

Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Timothy Moose and wife Sherrie of Granite Falls, and Philip Witherspoon and wife Cathy of Taylorsville; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, September 1, 2019 at Liledoun Baptist Church. Rev. James Bumgarner and Rev. Jason Payne will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

    My thoughts and prayers are with the entire family. Wanda and I became friends when I began going to Liledoun Baptist Church a little over a year ago. She was a fine Christian lady and was a kind and lovely soul. She will be greatly missed. May she rest in peace.
