Opal Maxine Rose Hays

Opal Maxine Rose Hays, 84, of Hiddenite, passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at Gordon Hospice House.

She was born on Thursday, March 7, 1935 to the late Herbert Earner Rose and Bertha Mahala Moore Rose in Kanawha County, West Virginia.

In addition to Opal’s parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James “Jim” Eugene Hays; two brothers, William J. Rose and Herbert E. Rose Jr.; and two sisters, Doris Ann Rose and Pauline Rose.

Opal is survived by three sons, James R. Hays (Almedia) of Taylorsville, Richard Lee Hays (Carol) of Florida, and Ronnie Alan Hays (Teresa) of Statesville; two daughters, Reba Hartsoe (Harold Miller) of Mooresville, and Regina Sue Gibson (Robert) of Taylorsville; two brothers, Larry Rose of Virginia, and Billy J. Rose of Kentucky; a sister, Linda Griffith (Bill) of Ohio; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

The Funeral Service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m., Friday, November 8, 2019 at Chapman Funeral Home. Rev. Keith Bowman will officiate. The Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 6:00-7:00 p.m., at Chapman Funeral Home. Burial will be Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Forest Memorial Park Cemetery in Milton, West Virginia, at 2:00 p.m.
