Betty Nell Clymer

Betty Nell Clymer, of Granite Falls, passed away Thursday, January 23, 2020 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care.

Born May 15, 1942, in Iredell County, she was the daughter of the late Clay Edwards Teague and Mary Jane Hines Teague.

Betty was a member of Amazing Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was a personal secretary to Mr. Bill Stevens and was an accomplished artist. Later, she was a personal assistant of Allene Broyhill Stevens for 35 years.

She is survived by her husband, DeForest Clymer of the home; her daughter, Kim Johnson of Morganton; her son, Russell Johnson and wife Raenie of Gainesville, Florida; three brothers, Wayne Teague and wife Suma of Stony Point, Kermit Teague and wife Reta of Taylorsville, and Carl Teague and wife Marilyn of Iredell County; three sisters, Martha Gaddy of Statesville, Sharon Goforth and husband Jimmy of Hiddenite, and Libby Mecimore and husband Dwight of Taylorsville; a grandson, Parker Johnson of Gainesville, Florida; a number of nieces and nephews; and special friend and caregiver, Carol Stone of Granite Falls.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, February 1, 2020, at 2:00 p.m., at Amazing Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Frank Waugh officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
