Tony Leonard Wellman

Tony Leonard Wellman, age 74, of Hiddenite, left this world for his heavenly home on Friday, July 10, 2020, at his residence.

Born on January 30, 1946, in Iredell County, the son of the late Murray McKinsey and Blonette Wellman.

He was a professional truck driver and enjoyed hunting, fishing, racing, watching the Cowboys play and westerns. Tony was a member at Philadelphia United Methodist Church and had a special love for his family.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers Ricky & Kenneth Edgerton and sister Pam Wellman.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 46 years Molly Parsons Wellman; children Stephanie Richards and husband Lynn, Anthony Wellman and wife Stacey, and Emily Wellman; brothers Jack Wellman and Hollywood Edgerton; sister Kokeeta Edgerton; grandchildren Damien Wellman, Dieon Lugo, Dalen Wellman, and Dason Wellman; along with a number of special family and friends.

Tony will lie-in-state for the public to view on Monday, July 13, 2020, from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm at Alexander Funeral Service. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2020, at 12:00 noon at Philadelphia United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pastor Ray Tavenner, Pastor Greg Lee, Rev. Sterling Howard, Rev. John Rowe, Rev. Ardeal Roseboro, and Rev. Elliott Boston will be officiating. Memorials may be sent to Shriners Hospital.
