Sidney Lee Miller

Sidney Lee Miller, 79, of Stony Point, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, August 5, 2020, after many years of declining health, at Pine Ridge Health & Rehabilitation Center in Thomasville.

He is the son of the late Ralph Floyd Miller and Bircha Vicks Miller, born Wednesday, November 27, 1940 in Alexander County. He was a devout Christian, loving father, very talented upholsterer, avid outdoorsman, voracious reader, loved nature, and had a kind and caring spirit to all he met.

In addition to his parents, Sidney was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Judy Darlene Rhyne Miller; two brothers, Jimmy “Crow” Miller and T.H. “T-Dump” Miller; and four sisters, Virginia “Pete” Miller, Opal “Whitey” Guy, Evelyn “Dink” Lackey, and Doris Ann Miller.

Sidney is survived by his son, Jason Rhyne Miller and wife Britney of Catawba; daughter, Amy Miller Childers and husband Garett; a brother, Ronnie Miller and wife Milledean; two sisters, Nancy “Nan” Bell and husband Jim, all of Taylorsville, and Carolyn Fox and husband Babe of Stony Point; and four grandchildren, Darcy and Carter Childers, and Maggie and Eleanor Miller.

A Service of Remembrance will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 8, 2020 in the Chapman Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Garett Childers will officiate. Burial will follow in the Stony Point Cemetery. There will be no formal visitation, although the body will lie-in-state Friday, August 7, 2020 from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Chapman Funeral Home requests that, in observance of the CDC guidelines, you wear a mask, observe social distancing, and use appropriate entrances and exits.

In support of Sid’s passion for nature and in honor of a lifetime spent enjoying God’s creation, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Catawba Lands Conservancy – Carolina Thread Trail, 4530 Park Road, Suite 420, Charlotte, NC 28209; or donate on their website at CatawbaLands.org.
