Cranford Allan Bumgarner

Cranford Allan Bumgarner, 96, of Taylorsville, passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at Frye Regional Medical Center from COVID-19.

Cranford was born February 21, 1924, in Alexander County, the son of the late Sherman and Carrie Munday Bumgarner.

He was a US Navy veteran, who served during WWII aboard LST 515 and later as a master carpenter and fixer of all things. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.

Including his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Texie Bumgarner; sons, Joe and Jim Bumgarner; a sister and four brothers; and a grandson, Rusty Johnson.

Those left to cherish and honor his memory include his daughter, Dianne Harvell and husband Gene of Hickory; his son, Russell Johnson and wife Sue of Hickory; granddaughter, Tammy Nisbet and husband Jeff; and great-grandchildren, Riley Johnson and Taylor Nisbet.

A private graveside service will be held at Bethlehem Baptist Church. There will be no formal visitation but the body will lie-in-state from 1-5 p.m., Friday, August 14, 2020 at Adams Funeral Home Chapel.
