Home invasion reported Fri. in Bethlehem Community
On Friday, August 28, 2020, at approximately 4:45 PM, officers with Alexander County Sheriff’s Office received information in reference of a reported assault that occurred at a residence located on Steel Bridge Loop in the Bethlehem Community of Alexander County, near the Highway 127 bridge, according to Sheriff Chris Bowman.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital to receive treatment. It was found that the victim had been shot earlier in the day.
Detectives responded to the residence to process the scene, and spoke with the victim. The victim stated that a suspect entered his residence on the morning of August 28, shortly after 8:00 AM. The victim stated that the intruder came in the residence demanding money and his wallet. A scuffle ensued, and the victim believes that he was shot by the intruder at that point. The victim stated that the intruder was dressed in black with some type of lettering on the front of his shirt. The intruder also wore a black mask. The victim stated that the intruder left after a short time.
Sheriff Bowman said the entry wound was in the victim’s abdomen. The bullet then exited his side and entered his arm. The victim was able to control the bleeding and treated himself until he decided to seek medical treatment.
At this time, the victim’s name will not be released.
