Joe Nathan Linney

Joe Nathan Linney, 82, of Hiddenite, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at Atrium Cabarrus Hospital.

Joe was born June 8, 1938, in Alexander County, the son of the late R. Dewey Linney and Addie Thompson Linney.

He was a US Army veteran, who served during the Vietnam Era, and was a member of Smith Grove Baptist Church, where he enjoyed Sunday school and Bible school and preaching of the word. He had worked as a supervisor for the Army and Air Force Exchange. He enjoyed working on his cars, and also loved searching on the web for spiritual understanding and health information.

Including his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Morris Linney and Chauncey A. Linney.

Those left to cherish and honor his memory include his sister, Rosantha Linney Moore of Charlotte; nephews, Bobby W. Moore (Desiree) of Fountain, Colorado, and Lazonte S. Moore of Charlotte; great-niece, Kalia O. Moore; and a host of cousins, friends, and special cousin, Tommy Linney.

The Home-going service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, October 25, 2020 at Smith Grove Baptist Church. Rev. William Little-Eulogist, Rev. Melvin Linney-Officiating, also assisted by Rev. Frank Linney and Rev. Calvin Little. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors accorded by Alexander County Veterans Honor Guard. The body will lie-in-state from 1-5 p.m., Saturday, October 24, 2020 at Adams Funeral Home Chapel for the public to view the body and sign the register book.
