Ray Eugene Sloan

Ray Eugene Sloan, 64, of Hiddenite, passed away at Iredell Memorial Hospital on January 23, 2021.

Ray was born in Iredell County to the late Martin Nathan Sloan and Winnie Martin Sloan of Hiddenite.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 42 years, Brenda Marlowe Sloan of the home. Ray was a lifetime poultry farmer and retired Corrections Officer and a member of Pisgah UMC.

Also surviving are two daughters, Kristy Michelle Starr and husband Josh, and Tanya Rae Silver and husband Michael, all of Hiddenite; three brothers, Lynn Sloan and wife Ann of Hiddenite, Carl Sloan (Julie), and Dale Sloan and wife Elizabeth, all of Statesville; a sister, Rebecca “Becky” Lambert and husband Jerry of Hiddenite; seven grandchildren, Kaitlyn Alexander and husband Cody, Hunter, Karlee, Dylan, Corbin, Noah, and Blake; an aunt, Chancie Martin Sprinkle; two grand-dogs, Thelma and Cecil; and a grand-pig, Moo-Moo.

A graveside service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Pisgah UMC Cemetery. Rev. Mike Duncan will officiate. The body will lie in state at Chapman Funeral Home Tuesday, January 26, 2021 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. We ask that all families follow the CDC guidelines.

Memorials may be given to Pisgah UMC/FLC debt reduction C/O Jonathan Harris, 178 Hill Farm Rd., Hiddenite, NC 28636.

    Our deepest condolences go to the Ray Sloan family during this difficult time. Ray was a very friendly individual every time he entered our doors and we enjoyed assisting him when we had the privilege to do so. He will be deeply missed and our thoughts and prayers go out to his entire family!
