Robert “Bob” Clegg Johnson, 89, of Moravian Falls, passed away on Tuesday evening, February 9, 2021 at Wilkes Health and Rehab.
He was born September 6, 1931 to the late Willie Grady and Pearl Adeline Harris Johnson in Wilkes County. Bob was a member of Cub Creek Baptist Church, enjoyed playing golf, camping, doing mission work, working in his garden, doing yard work, and was a member of the Gideons International. Bob was a charter member of the Moravian Falls Volunteer Fire Department.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Martha Grace Johnson, five brothers and sisters, and six infant brothers and sisters.
Those left to celebrate and cherish the memories of Mr. Johnson include three daughters, Kay Steelman (Michael), Kathy Treadway (Gary), and Robin Billings (Kevin Walsh); a sister, Pauline Anderson; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; along with a special nephew, John Bauguess.
Mr. Johnson will lie-in-state at Alexander Funeral Service on Thursday, February 11, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m, and at Cub Creek Baptist Church on Friday, February 12, 2021, from 12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Sherrill Welborn will officiate and Wilkes County Fireman Honor Guard will assist. Moravian Falls Volunteer Firemen will serve as pallbearers.
