Daniel “Dee” Willard Loudermelk, 90, of Taylorsville, passed away May 22, 2021.
He was born to the late Daniel A. and Alice Leola Neagle Loudermelk. Dee was in the Army and served in Korea. He was a member at Rocky Face Baptist Church. Dee owned Piedmont Wood Products for 21 years until retirement. He enjoyed “running dogs” for rabbits, trading beagles, and was an all-around beagle enthusiast. Dee enjoyed Blue Grass music. He played and made banjos. He always told a good story and a joke when you saw him.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his spouse, Lillie St. Clair Loudermelk; two brothers, Ralph and Talmage Loudermilk; and five sisters, Lois L. Harrington, Tommy L. Goforth, Lottie L. Goforth, Edna L. Chapman, and Ozabelle L. McCurdy.
Those left to cherish the memories of Dee include two sons, Randy Loudermelk and Russell Loudermelk (Karen); daughter, Robin Fairchild (Anthony); seven grandchildren, Brandon, Bradley and Brent Loudermelk, Kensley Allen, Shana Loudermelk, and Macy and Maddox Fairchild; five great-grandchildren, Layna Loudermelk, Myriah Loudermelk, Bennett Allen, and Lynnsie and Lillie Allen; along with a number of nieces, nephews, and special friends.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at Rocky Face Baptist Church from 5:00 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. The funeral service will follow at Rocky Face Baptist Church at 6:00 p.m. Rev. Bill Orren and Rev. Danny Loudermilk will officiate. Burial will follow in the Old Rocky Face Baptist Church Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by DAV Ch. 84 and Ch. 6.
