Wells Fargo closes Taylorsville branch

Wells Fargo’s Taylorsville branch closed at noon on June 2, 2021.

The Wells Fargo Bank branch office in Taylorsville at 74 West Main Avenue, permanently closed on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at 12 noon, according to Lisa T. Gragg, Wells Fargo District Manager.

Gragg noted other area branches will remain open to serve patrons, including offices in Hickory, Newton, Lenoir, and Wilkesboro, as well as Wells Fargo online banking.

The history of this bank goes back to about 1919 when Taylorsville Merchants and Farmers Bank opened in Taylorsville; then in 1938 consolidated with Northwestern Bank which was acquired by First Union Bank, and later merged to became Wachovia Bank in 2001. During the financial panic of September 2008, Wells Fargo acquired Wachovia Bank and operated the Taylorsville facility as a Wells Fargo branch through June 2, 2021.

so sad, I moved here 41 years ago, was with Wachovia in Charlotte, then I moved my banking needs to Wells Fargo, which then it was Northwestern Bank, now it has closed the branch Wells Fargo and really makes in inconvinent with all customers, even to just go draw out from the outside teller , sure there are other branches in other towns but it is not convinent to have to drive there when u want to draw out some of your money. I guess I will just have to look at the other banks we have here and decide to either move my business to them or stay with Wells fargo and not be happy.
