Thesta “Nan” Jean LaFevre
Thesta “Nan” Jean LaFevre, 81, of Hickory, passed away on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at her home.
She was born February 1, 1941, in Catawba County, the daughter of the late Ernest Lee Bowman and Kathleen Hilton Bowman.
She was a homemaker and worked with children’s mental health. She also was a landscape designer and a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Hickory. She was very artistic and loved gardening and the outdoors, cooking, reading, and writing in her journal. Her animals and spending time with her grandchildren were her life. Her house was always an open door and she never met a stranger.
Including her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Lail, and a sister, Brenda Proctor.
Those left to cherish and honor her memory include her husband of 41 years, Don LaFevre of the home; her son, Joe “JoJo” Lail (Kristie) of Bethlehem; her daughter-in-law, Sandy Lail of Bethlehem; her grandchildren, Jennifer “Jennie” Lail, Steven Lail, Molly Triplett, Alex Triplett, and Justin Triplett; four great-grandchildren and one on the way; her sister, whom she was extremely close to, Patricia Bowman Starkey (Jim); her brother, Harold Lee Bowman (Dianne); her brother-in-law, Dean Proctor; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, who she thought of as family.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 17, 2021, at Adams Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Richard Schwantz will officiate.
