Shirley (Button) Levan

Shirley (Button) Levan, 66, of Hiddenite, earned her angel wings on Monday, July 26, 2021.

Button retired from CommScope after 25 years of service. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Button was the first woman in Alexander County to hit the ball out of the stadium for a home run in high school softball. She was a talented all-around athlete. She was a member of Faith Temple Church in Stony Point.

She was preceded in death by her father, James R. Bell; step-daughter, Dawn Reed; and step-grandchild, Ty Reed.

In addition to her mother, Nancy Miller Bell, survivors include her husband of 45 years, David Levan of Hiddenite; children, Deanna Watts and husband Chad of Taylorsville, Sarah Levan McCurdy, and Lucas Levan and wife Mindy of Hiddenite; brothers, Deano Bell and wife Rita of Taylorsville, and Richard Bell of Taylorsville; and grandchildren, Chanler, Triston and Dalton Watts, MaLeia and Zandon McCurdy, and Haven, Casen and Grayson Levan.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home on Saturday, July 31, 2021. A graveside service will follow at Stony Point Cemetery. Pastor Luke Green will officiate.

    Sad to hear of Buttons passing,but glad that she knew Jesus.known her,mom,dad and Drano from Broyhill.Praying God’s comfort and peace for each of you.Would see her a lot at Walmart,trying to keep up with Nan.I would tell her where I saw her at and she’d go find her.😄, beautiful family .

    Button was a very loved woman by many people I know that she will be missed but her memory will always be in the hearts of every one she’s touched. I want the family to truly know of my regards Lucas and Mindy I haven’t saw you guys in forever but I love yaw, please know that yaw are in my thoughts and prayers.
