Cheryl K. Stewart “Cherie”
Cheryl K. Stewart “Cherie” of Burlington, formerly of Anchors Landing in Granite Falls, passed away September 10, 2021, after fighting breast cancer for five years.
Cherie was born September 6, 1944, in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. She was a lifelong Lutheran, last belonging to Mt. Pisgah Lutheran Church in Bethlehem. She also enjoyed her time as a member of Newcomers of Catawba Valley in Hickory.
Cherie loved to travel and especially enjoyed taking cruises and road trips. She lived in Indiana, Wisconsin, Illinois, Virginia, and North Carolina. While living in Virginia, she worked at a preschool and as an Assistant Librarian.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Alfred and Ilo Doege; step-parents, Arnold and Lucille Beyer; step-sister, Hollis (Holly) Beyer; and daughter, Heather Stewart.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Edward A. Stewart; son, Daniel S. Stewart; and several cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, November 6, 2021, at Mt. Pisgah Lutheran Church, 9379 NC Highway 127, Hickory, NC 28601, with Rev. Michael Stone officiating. Masks are appreciated.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 42040, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-3000; or to Mt. Pisgah Lutheran Church.
