Clifford “Butch” Lewis Nail

Clifford “Butch” Lewis Nail, 87, of Taylorsville, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at Amorem Hospice in Hudson.

He was born February 6, 1935, in Caldwell County, the son of the late Arthur Nail and Joyce Gragg Nail.

He was a US Army veteran; he was the top man in his company in physical training. He worked as a cloth cutter and supervisor over three departments for Fairfield Chair Company. After his retirement, he was a poultry and livestock farmer. He was a member of Dover Baptist Church, where he was the Chairman of the Deacon Board, a Sunday school teacher, and a faithful member.

He loved to mow grass and was a handyman around the house. He was as big of a kid as his two grandsons, a great husband, Dad, grandfather, and great-grandfather. But most of all, he loved the Lord.

Including his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Kay, Ramona, and Betty.

Those left to cherish and honor his memory include his wife of almost 65 years, Bobbie Nail of the home; his daughter, Penny Nail Icenhour (Rick) of Taylorsville; his son, Michael Lewis Nail of Taylorsville; his grandchildren, Cory Icenhour (Macey), Stephen Nail (Abigail), and Olivia Grace Nail; his great-grandchildren, Eleanor Mae Icenhour and coming soon, Harper Lynn Icenhour; and his sister, Ethel McGarr.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, February 13, 2022, at Dover Baptist Church. Rev. Phil Jolly and Rev. James Bumgarner will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors accorded by the Alexander County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
