Clara Barker Little

Clara Barker Little was born on March 19, 1931, in Taylorsville, to the late Cecil and Hattie Hines Barker. She transitioned from this life on Monday, February 21, 2022, after an extended illness.

Clara was a member of New Zion Baptist Church. She loved making crafts, flower gardening, music, and preparing family dinners. Clara worked at Tyson for over 40 years, where she retired and continued to work a number of years after retirement in retail management, where her kindness and consistent treatment of everyone was acknowledged and respected throughout the community. Her companionship and loving spirit motivated her to work for a number of years as a caregiver for Alexander Hospice before fully retiring.

Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 40 years, Joseph Little; her son, Lonnie Little; a sister, Emma Lee Mauney; and brothers, Lainey Barker, Jimmy Barker, and Phillip Barker.

Left to cherish Clara’s loving memories are her two daughters, Sue Watts (Steve) of Taylorsville, and Stephanie Grant (William) of Concord; step-son, Edward Linney of Statesville; grandson, Brent Watts (Paul Rawson) of Pawleys Island, South Carolina; granddaughters, Tanesha Watts of Taylorsville, Kimaya Grant of Concord, and Ashley Grant of Douglasville, Georgia, sisters, Martha Jane Howell of Taylorsville, Kay Francis Barker of Taylorsville, and Elizabeth Ann Howard (Sterling) of Taylorsville; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, February 26, 2022, at Adams Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery on Hwy 90 East of Taylorsville. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service. The family requests that everyone please wear a mask for all services. The body will lie in state from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m., Friday, February 25, 2022, at Adams Funeral Home Chapel. The family will be receiving family and friends prior to the services at the home of Reverend Sterling and Ann Howard.
