Kathleen Elizabeth Register Woods

Kathleen Elizabeth Register Woods, 96, of Stony Point, made her peaceful journey to Heaven on Saturday, June 18, 2022, in Bluffton, South Carolina, where she was cared for by her daughter, Margo.

Kathleen was born in Greensboro and grew up in Sanford with her family. Kathleen danced in the New York Ballet Company in the early ’40s, later married Robert Woods, and moved to West Palm Beach, Florida, where they raised three children. In the early ’70s, Kathleen moved to Stony Point, where she lived for over 50 years.

Kathleen was a graduate of Mitchell College, Statesville, where she received a degree in Nursing in 1977. She was also a Bible scholar, a graduate of East Coast Bible College, Charlotte, receiving a BS in Biblical Studies (Cum Laude) in 1986. She loved studying the Bible and her prayer ministry.

Kathleen was an accomplished wildlife artist with many award-winning paintings shared in community art shows and exhibits. She wrote children’s poetry and loved the outdoors, walks in the woods at her home in Stony Point, and she loved camping and hiking with her children and grandchildren. She especially loved her Iris garden and all her beautiful flowers.

Predeceased by her son, Robert Woods of Gastonia, who died March 23, 2022, Kathleen is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Margo Woods Carter and Michael Penman of Bluffton, South Carolina, and son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Angela Woods of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She is also survived by five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A “Celebration of Life” will be held privately.
