Frankie Overstreet Sweet

Frankie Overstreet Sweet, 82, of Taylorsville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at her home surrounded by family.

She was born September 6, 1939, in Floyd County, Virginia, the daughter of the late Henry Overstreet and Lillian Branscome Overstreet.

She was of the Baptist faith and retired from the furniture industry after many years with Broyhill Furniture. She enjoyed spending time with family and loved to collect cookie jars.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Darrell Johnathan Sweet; three brothers, Melvin, John and William Overstreet; and a sister, Francis Alderman.

Those left to cherish and honor her memories include her sons, Timothy Sweet of Rockwood, Tennessee, and Randy Sweet (Sheila) of Hiddenite; her brother, James Overstreet of Willis, Virginia; her sisters, Marie Hall of Floyd, Virginia, and Ann Holcomb of Dublin, Virginia; brother-in-law, Jerry Sweet (Linda) of Newton; six grandchildren, Sharon (Chris) Watts, T.J. Sweet (Ashley), Brandon Sweet (Raney), Darren Sweet (Lauren), Jordan Sweet (Amber), and Ashlyn Sweet; and 10 great-grandchildren, Mason and Sophia Watts, Hunter and Sadie Sweet, Isaac, Colt and Vance Sweet, Garrison Sweet, and Zoah and Valor Sweet.

The funeral service will be held at 4 p.m., Monday, August 15, 2022, at Adams Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. James Smith, Rev. Bradley Anderson, and Rev. James Safrit will officiate. Burial will follow in the Little River Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. prior to the service.

Pallbearers include T.J. Sweet, Darren Sweet, Jordan Sweet, Chris Watts, Jordan Watts, and Mike Gentert.
