Della Ray Farmer Stike Miller, 96, of Taylorsville, formally of Ashe County, passed away Wednesday morning, December 7, 2022, at her daughter’s residence.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at 1:00 p.m., at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Dollar, Rev. Danny Joe Farmer, and Rev. Chris Meade officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashley Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Boone Family Funeral Home, two hours prior to the funeral services.

Mrs. Miller was born on September 29, 1926, in Ashe County, to Hampton and Lora Belle Taylor Weaver. She was an amazing homemaker, wife, and mother. She was married to R.C. Farmer and had eight wonderful children. He passed away at an early age and later she married Riley Alford Stike. She raised eight children and, while she was declared legally blind at a very young age, she cooked, cleaned, and did everything that any mother could do. She was always singing about the Lord. She was grateful for what He had given her.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Gary Farmer; a daughter, Linda Messer; her last husband, Richard Miller; six brothers, Dewey Weaver, Albert Weaver, Clarence Weaver, James Weaver, Reggie Weaver, and Johnny Weaver; and two sisters, Minnie Allen and Maudie Short.

Mrs. Miller is survived by two sons, Ronnie Farmer (Juanita) of West Jefferson, and Timmy Farmer of Warrensville; four daughters, Betty “Lorene” Main of Kernersville, Janice Penny of Archdale, Lesa Martin (Jay) of Elkin, and Sandi Daughtry (Chris) of Bethlehem; 25 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Alexander County Hospice, 50 Lucy Echerd Lane, Taylorsville, NC 28681.

Pallbearers are Josh Fox, Tyler Schultz, Michael Farmer, Jason Bare, Ryan Martin, Jacob Longworth, Ray Dean Miller, Blake Farmer, and Cameron Fox.
