Rodney Scott Simpson

Rodney Scott Simpson, 58, went to be with his heavenly father on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at his home in Alexander County.

He was born on Monday, October 12, 1964, in Mecklenburg County, to the late Defoy Conley Simpson and Frieda Shore Simpson.

Mr. Simpson began working for Tindall Corp. at the age of 19. In 1985, he established a precast concrete company, Carolina Precast Erectors Inc. After several years of hard work, he obtained the position of Field Operations Superintendent. He was proud to be part of the Tindall family for more than 30 years.

Rodney was a faithful member of East Taylorsville Baptist Church. He was a hard worker and a jack of all trades. His greatest pastime was entertaining his grandchildren with crazy antics that left his family in hysterics. He enjoyed motocross, and snowboarding, and practiced his creative craftsmanship around the home.

Including his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother.

Those left to cherish the memories of Rodney include his wife of 33 years, Amanda Lackey Simpson; daughters, Emily Simpson (fiancé Will McCurry), Hillary Montieth (Josh), and Rebekah Peterson (Sawyer); son, Jeremy Simpson (girlfriend Peyton Moore); brother, Bobby Simpson (Monica); sister-in-law, Melissa Deal (Wes); nephews, Alex and Aaron Deal, Nicholas Simpson (fiancée Morgan), and Ethan Deal; and six grandchildren, Lawson and Maddox Montieth, Aubrey, Adley, Lainey, and, soon to arrive, Meritt Peterson.

A visitation will be held Friday, April 28, 2023, in the sanctuary at East Taylorsville Baptist Church from 3:00 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. A memorial service will be held Friday, April 28, 2023, in the sanctuary at East Taylorsville Baptist Church at 5:00 p.m. Rev. Jamie Steele will officiate. Inurnment will be with the family.
