Irene Willis Griffin

Irene Willis Griffin, 81, of Taylorsville, passed away on Friday, June 30, 2023, at The Greens of Viewmont.

She was born December 31, 1941, in Yancy County, the daughter of the late Braskey Willis and Thelma Metcalf Willis.

Irene was of the Pentecostal faith and was a hand sander for Hancock-Moore for close to 20 years. She loved flowers and planting them and watching them grow. She loved going to church and gospel singings.

Including her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Darryl Griffin; a daughter-in-law, Lorie Griffin; two sisters, Margie Brock and Naomi McPeters; and a brother, James Willis (Elizabeth).

Those left to cherish and honor her memory include her daughter, Debbie Griffin Cale (Edward) of the Ellendale Community; her sons, Dale Griffin of Kings, Gary Griffin (Mila) of Hickory, Daniel Griffin of the home, and Jeffery Griffin of the Bethlehem Community; her sisters, Linda McDaris (Bruce) and Juanita Bucknar (Jerald), all of Weaverville; her brothers, Harold Willis (Al phajean) of Hendersonville, and J.C. Willis (Shirley) of Weaverville; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 8, 2023, in the Adams Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Jeff Webb will officiate. Burial will follow in the Victory Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
