Library closes early July 3 after man dies

The main branch of the Alexander County Library closed early on Monday, July 3, at 6:00 p.m. That afternoon, a library employee discovered a man with a medical emergency inside the back entrance.

He wasn’t breathing and had no pulse, according to Gary Herman, Alexander County Public Information Director. A library staff person administered CPR until first responders arrived.

Alexander County EMS Director Jeffrey Sigmon said paramedics were unable to resuscitate the man.

The man was identified as Russell Redmon (click here to view obituary), age 59 of Taylorsville. He died of natural causes, said Herman.
