Gary’s passing has shaken the washington DC music community of which he was an important and vital part decades ago. Gary was a musician, photographer and music event planner and made a valuable contribution to the independent music scene of the 1980s. His photos appeared in the book “Untypical Girls: Styles and Sounds of the Transatlantic Indie Rock Revolution” by Sam Knee. He had a way of nurturing, supporting and encouraging creative endeavors and had a gentle humor and kind approach in his interactions. He was dearly loved by many who know and love music.
