Grand Re-opening held at Walmart

Walmart customers in Taylorsville were welcomed inside the newly transformed Supercenter at 901 NC Highway 16 S., Taylorsville, last Friday as the much-anticipated project is now complete. Creating omni-shopping experiences that save customers time and money, Walmart continues its transformational journey to become America’s favorite place to shop whether in-store, online, or via the mobile app.

Walmart associates marked the occasion with a ribbon cutting ceremony, community celebration, and the unveiling of a community-inspired mural. The event was attended by local Taylorsville organizations and elected officials including The Bridge Community, Rescue Ranch, Alexander County Partnership for Children, Heroes Portrait Project and The United States Fire Department Reserve Corps.

Local students took part, too, in the form of Navy Junior ROTC Cadets presenting the colors from Alexander Central High School. Also, ACHS Cheerleaders led a cheer with management to spell out “W-A-L-M-A-R-T.”

“At Walmart, enhancing our customers’ shopping experience is always a priority,” said Mike Young, Walmart store manager. “We’re thrilled to unveil to our customers a variety of new features and improvements at our store that will ultimately allow us to better serve the Taylorsville community. A big thank you to our dedicated associates, and our store leadership teams for their exceptional efforts throughout the renovation.”

During the celebration, store leaders and associates highlighted the transformation as well as the new interactive features available to customers, including:
• Exciting displays that pull customers in and help them touch, feel, and become a part of the space
• Transformed departments, more apparel brands, plus expansion of online pickup and delivery
• New digital touchpoints located throughout the store to help communicate the vast assortment of products and services Walmart offers online through the use of QR codes and digital screens
• Vision and Pharmacy updates
• Reconfigured store layout creating more space for customers to explore and discover the breadth and depth of what their local store has to offer
• Refreshed interior and exterior with new signage for easier navigation through the stores and exterior updates to the parking lot and landscaping

In addition, Walmart customers in Taylorsville now have access to a wider assortment of products—and with online pickup, delivery, express delivery, and Walmart Pay, they can get what they want, when they want it, all while enjoying an even better shopping experience.

To further illustrate Walmart’s commitment to helping people live better in the communities it serves, the store manager presented $6,000 in grants to local nonprofit organizations, including:
• $2,000 to The Bridge Community
• $1,000 to Rescue Ranch
• $1,000 to Alexander County Partnership for Children
• $1,000 to Heroes Portrait Project
• $1,000 to The United States Fire Department Reserve Corps: Mental Health Services Command

The ceremony concluded with the exciting unveiling of the store’s new mural, designed and illustrated by artist Gayla D. Seale. This vibrant installation celebrates what makes Taylorsville unique — from its rich apple-growing heritage to the lively traditions that bring the community together. The mural captures the joy of the Taylorsville Apple Festival, held each October since 1988, where thousands gather to enjoy food, fun, and entertainment. It shines a spotlight on the area’s dedicated farmers, skilled artisans, and talented performers, uniting the town in a colorful tribute to its heritage and spirit.

This mural is part of Walmart’s Community Mural Program which is one of the largest public-facing art installations celebrating communities across America. As a key element of each store transformation, the program reinforces Walmart’s ongoing commitment to honoring and supporting the local community.
