Fire claims house, two vehicles

A house fire was reported about 5 a.m. on Wednesday morning, March 11, 2026, at 146 Skyview Hill Drive, off of Linneys Mill Road, said Chief Coty Fox of the Vashti Fire Department.

Vashti and Hiddenite fire departments from Alexander County and Central School Fire Department from Iredell County responded. The home has a Union Grove address but lies just within Alexander County.

The fire was investigated by the Office of the State Fire Marshal. The cause is listed as undetermined; however, a candle was thought to possibly be the cause.

Fox said there was a single male occupant of the home, who was there at the time of the fire. There were no injuries.

The man’s name was not given. The Alexander County Tax Department listing for the property states the owner’s name is Todd S. Summers.

Fox said the fire caused a total loss of the home and two vehicles.
