The annual Brushy Mountain Apple Festival began in 1978 by the Brushy Mountain Ruritan Club as a fundraising project. One of the largest arts & crafts festivals in the Eastern US, it ranks among the Southeast Tourism Society’s “Top 20 Events.” The free-admission “family event” boasts 4 music stages as the streets come alive with over 350 crafters, 75 food vendors, Appalachian heritage exhibitors and apple growers offering fresh apples, cider and a host of apple products for sale. Visitors can enjoy the sounds of the Appalachian dulcimers, the smell of many freshly prepared foods and the chatter of artisans demonstrating woodcarving, chair making, pottery throwing, soap making and quilting. Entice the young and old to enjoy the rich heritage of the mountains. www.applefestival.net,email:info@applefestival.netor(336) 921-3499.
