Bethlehem Baptist Church
7500 NC Highway 127, Taylorsville, NC 28681

Bethlehem Baptist Church will host a community blood drive with the American Red Cross on Wednesday, May 8th from 1:00pm to 5:30pm at the church at 7500 NC Highway 127, Taylorsville, NC 28681.

For more information or to make an appointment to donate, sign up online at redcrossblood.org with sponsor code “BethlehemBaptist” or call the church at (828) 495-7250.

“Hosting a blood drive coincides with Bethlehem Baptist’s core values of giving back to the community,” said Valerie Carpenter, Blood Drive Manager. “With a simple blood donation, we have the ability to help save the life of someone who could be a coworker, loved one or neighbor.”

Blood is routinely transfused to patients with cancer and other diseases, premature babies, organ transplant recipients and trauma victims, according to the Red Cross.

“The short amount of time it takes to donate can mean a lifetime to a patient with a serious medical condition. We urge eligible donors to join us in the selfless act of giving blood.”

Donors of all blood types are needed, especially those with types O negative, B negative and A negative. According to the Red Cross, type O negative is the universal blood type that can be safely transfused to anyone, and is often used to treat trauma patients.

The Catawba Valley New Horizons Band presents its 2019 Spring Concert on Thursday evening, May 23, 2019, at 7:00 pm.  Following the concert, a brief reception will be held to provide an opportunity to meet and visit with band members.

Celebrating our 10th anniversary, after starting with 8 members the Band programs now feature 40 performers coming from a wide variety of musical backgrounds, including none at all.  In addition, the 17-member Catawba Valley New Horizons Orchestra and the Zephyr Woodwind Ensemble have been formed and flourished during that time.

New Horizons provides an entry point for adults into instrumental music and is open to all who have a desire to learn a new instrument or refresh skills on an instrument last played in high school or college days. Many levels of aptitude are represented in the Band, the Orchestra, and Zephyr from beginner to quite accomplished, but all members fully endorse our motto “Your best is good enough!”

For more information on the concert or joining the Band, the Orchestra or Zephyr, please contact Len Allman at 828-449-7442 or Karin Blanchard at 828-328-1212.
