County Extension Director
We are excited to announce the opening of the Alexander Farmers’ Market. It will open for the 2018 season on Saturday, June 16, in the old hospital parking lot on 3rd Street SW (NC 16 South). This location is very central to the citizens of Taylorsville. The market run from 8:00 am until noon. The last few years’ markets have been huge successes with at times, the entire parking lot being filled with vendors and customers.
Some items available initially should include: onions, peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, potatoes, okra, green beans, corn, squash, cantaloupes, peaches, various plants, baked goods, jams and jellies, and much more. To have the “Fresh Produce, Locally Grown” sign all items must be grown or produced locally or in our region of North Carolina. The Alexander Farmers’ Market is dedicated to keeping this a clean family oriented market. Market spaces are only $5 a spot for anyone wanting to sell some extra garden vegetables or fruits, jams or jellies, or homemade crafts. Our Farmers’ Market is sponsored by the Alexander Cooperative Extension Service. So for more information call us at 632-4451.
Flea Market Vendors are encouraged to use the lower hospital parking lot on Saturday mornings. This will help prevent heavy traffic congestion on Farmers’ Market mornings.
Let’s join together and support our local and adjoining county producers. Don’t miss out, come join us Saturday mornings as we will definitely have the freshest produce in town.
