Crews will activate the signals at N.C. 16 and Millersville Road on Monday, Feb. 16

The N.C. Department of Transportation will activate traffic signals at an Alexander County intersection on Monday, Feb. 16, 2026.

Crews installed signals at the N.C. 16 and Millersville Road intersection after development in the area led to increased traffic.

“Adding signals to this intersection will improve traffic flow and enhance safety on one of Alexander County’s major thoroughfares,” said Barry Cross, deputy division traffic engineer for Alexander and five other counties in the North Carolina foothills.

The signals, which crews installed earlier this week, will remain in a flashing mode until they are activated Monday morning.

I’ve been going through this intersection for 30 years. The last few years saw several accidents and quite a few near misses. The amount of increase in the traffic has been tremendous. Happy to see the traffic signal installed!
