George “Coyt” Mayberry

George “Coyt” Mayberry, 88, of Pataskala, Ohio, a devoted husband to Louise Mayberry and beloved family man, passed in his home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, April 13, 2026.

George was born January 16, 1938, in Alexander County, the son of the late William “Bill” Mayberry and Hessie Barnes Mayberry.

George proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Era in Verona, Italy. He completed nearly 32 years at Columbus Southern Power / American Electric Power, where he managed a team of “Storm Busters” that were dedicated to restoring power to communities in the worst and most dangerous of weather conditions. When able, George was an avid golfer and enjoyed attending airshows and spending time at airports watching planes.

George and Louise were longtime members of Fellowship Baptist Church, East Taylorsville Baptist Church, and Jersey Baptist Church. George gave his soul to the Lord in his early years. He will be remembered as a consistent, caring, humble, and giving man who sacrificed for his family and provided for those in need.

George was preceded in death by his wife, Louise T. Mayberry; two brothers, Phil Mayberry and Leo Mayberry; and a sister, Marilyn Mayberry.

Those left to cherish and honor his memories include three sons, Randy Mayberry (Nancy), Bradley Mayberry (Kristen), and Michael Surber; a daughter, Kelly Surber; and grandchildren whom he cherished so deeply, Mitchell Gibbs, Reagan Surber, Gillian Surber, Olivia Surber, Addison Surber, Samantha Mayberry, and Joey Mayberry; a great-granddaughter, Charlotte; his siblings, Luke Mayberry, Sylvia Sigmon, and Peggy Gant (Harry); and a number of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
