Apple Blossom Festival set for Saturday

The program for the 2026 Apple Blossom Festival is included in the April 29 issue of The Times.

Among hundreds of vendors and booths, United States Strongman will hold the Apple Blossom Invitational Competition and Exhibition at the Taylorsville Apple Blossom Festival on May 2, 2026, at 9:00 a.m., said festival director Gina Kay Honosky.

Registration invitations have been made but registration is on a first come first served basis and is $50, open to all open division athletes. Registration is capped at 26 athletes.

Weigh-ins will be held Friday, May 1, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The following events are planned: Event 1 – Max yoke press. Event 2 – Max Cogwheel axle 15” deadlift. Event 3 – sandbag over bar head to head. Event 4 – Hercules hold. Event 5 – mystery event.

Pageant planned

Riley’s Heart Benefit Pageants will present The Taylorsville Apple Blossom Festival Pageant on May 2 at First United Methodist Church Mission Campus, 54 E Main Ave., in Taylorsville.
The pageant is for ages birth to 18 years. There will be beautiful crowns and titles in this fun, friendly competition.

Entertainment

The Eighth Annual Taylorsville Apple Blossom Festival will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and have three entertainment stages, a Main Stage, a Gospel Stage and a Youth Stage.
Kids Korner will feature Train Rides, Foam Party, and Petting Zoo.

Chris Markey & Son “Chainsaw Carving” and the Catawba Valley Wood Carvers Club doing demonstrations on the Courthouse Lawn.

Some 375 booths are planned this year, filled with great food, crafts, novelty, informational, free giveaways, wood and leather works, leather hides, jewelry, boutiques, 3-D printed items, crochet, plushies, and a chance to win an actual SUV (an INEOS Grenadier).

Festival proceeds raise monies for the “Needy Children’s Benevolence Funds” in the 13 Alexander County Schools.
