Betty Joe Bowman Mitchell

Betty Joe Bowman Mitchell, 88, beloved by many and known for her deep love of family, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2024, at S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House in Iredell County. She was born on Friday, May 8, 1936, in Alexander County, to the late Solon W. Bowman and Vergie Fox Bowman.

Betty’s life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family and her passion for spending quality time with them. She had a talent for cooking and found joy in preparing meals for her loved ones.

Including her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her first husband, Hayden Teague, and second husband, Marlow Mitchell; her son, Tommy Teague; grandson, Austin Allran; granddaughter, Alesia Teague; and brothers, William, David, Jimmy and Hayden Bowman.

She is also remembered fondly by her surviving family members: children, Michael Teague (Leah), Timmy Teague, Diane Mohler (Tim), and Teresa Allran (Kevin); sisters, Martha Teague and Naomi Bowman (Lynn); along with 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren who will continue to carry forward her legacy of love and warmth.

A visitation will be held at Liledoun Baptist Church on Thursday, July 25, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Liledoun Baptist Church at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Jason Payne will officiate and Michael Teague will speak.

Tripp Jay, Landon Jay, Stephen Burns, Ritchie Bowman, Ashley Setzer, and Jason Icard will serve as pallbearers.

The family will accept flowers or donations may be made to Alexander Hospice, 50 Lucy Echerd Lane, Taylorsville, NC 28681.

Betty’s presence will be deeply missed but her spirit will live on through the memories shared by all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
