Sample ballots available for Nov. 5 General Election
Sample ballots are now available for the November 5 General Election to help prepare voters to research candidates or issues, according to Alexander County officials.
“Sample ballots provide voters an opportunity to see what the ballot will look like when they present to vote,” stated Patrick Wike, Alexander County Elections Director. “Voters may bring sample ballots, voting guides, notes, and other materials into the voting booth to help them with the voting process.”
There are 11 ballot styles in the November 5 General Election. Ballot style means a specific ballot layout or content for an election. The ballot style is the presentation of the unique combination of contests and candidates for which a voter is eligible to vote. The combination of contests and candidates is mostly the same across Alexander County precincts.
The only contest exception is the Alexander County Board of Education. A voter’s precinct assignment will determine which Alexander County Board of Education district they are eligible to vote in. Alexander County Board of Education is split into four (4) districts. Voters will receive a ballot based on their precinct assignment which is determined by their residential address. Only 3 of the 4 School Board districts have contests on the November 5 ballot. School Board District 2, which includes Taylorsville 1, 4, & 5 and Taylorsville 2 & 3 precincts, does not have a contest.
