The forecast for the Alexander County area includes possible heavy rains early this week from Tropical Depression Eight, according to the National Weather Service office in Greenville-Spartanburg, SC:
• Monday, Sept. 16, 2024 – A slight chance of rain before noon, then showers likely, mainly after 4pm. Cloudy, with a high near 69. North northeast wind around 13 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
• Monday Night – Showers, with thunderstorms also possible after midnight. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Patchy fog. Low around 62. North northeast wind 11 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
• Tuesday – Showers likely, with thunderstorms also possible after 2pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Patchy fog before 3pm. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 70. East wind 8 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.
• Tuesday Night – A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 62. East northeast wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
