The NC Hwy. 16 bridge at Oxford Dam has reopened, according to the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office. NC Dept. of Transportation officials had closed the bridge until it could be inspected due to the large volume of water being released from the dam following Hurricane Helene’s rain.
