Ruby Tedder James

Ruby Tedder James, 89, of Ed Burgess Road, Taylorsville, passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Frye Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. James was born September 17, 1927, in Wilkes County, the daughter of the late Charlie Vance Tedder and Roxie Ann Brooks Tedder.

She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She loved gardening, flowers, cooking, and especially cooking things to take to others.

Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Roland James; two sisters, Minnie Dingler and Bessie James; and two brothers, Jay Tedder and Charlie Tedder.

Those left to cherish her memory include three daughters, Brenda Cox and husband Willard, and Cathy Kerley, all of Taylorsville, and Martha Bruce and husband Gary of Hiddenite; a son, Bobby Roland James and wife Beth of Taylorsville; two brothers, Buddy Tedder and wife Betty of Moravian Falls, and Bobby Tedder of the Sugar Loaf Community; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Little River Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Monty Mathis will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service at Mrs. James’ residence.
