Chris Farley

Chris Farley, 74, of Hickory, passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at Frye Regional Medical Center.

He was born January 16, 1949, in Bluefield, West Virginia, the son of the late Silas Luther Farley and Adeline Hilton Farley. He retired from General Motors after 30 years and then worked for NAPA for 25 years. He was a faithful member of Grace Baptist Church.

He loved his family dearly; they were the joy of his life. He especially loved spending time with his granddaughter, Hannah. He loved driving his truck, “Big Red,” and having his Red Man chew.

Including his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Elizabeth Farley; his great-grandchild, Liam; two sisters; and three brothers.

Those left to cherish and honor his memories include his wife, Diann Farley of the home; his daughters, Tamara Farley and Shirley Farley, both of Delaware, and Jennifer Rudisill (Shawn) and Brandi Coleman, both of North Carolina; his brother, Jim Farley (Margaret) of Alexander County; his sister-in-law, Margaret “Tiny” Farley; his grandchildren, Mary, Braelynn, Michael, Keirsten, Andrea, Christopher, Austin, Joshua, Jacob, Justin, and Hannah; his great-grandchildren, Laine Grace, Daxton, Landon, Bailie, Maddox, Sylas, and Austin Lee; a special nephew, Brian Farley (Alicia); and a number of other relatives.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, August 13, 2023, at Grace Baptist Church. Pastor Mark Bumgarner will officiate.
