Jimmy Dale Barnes

Jimmy Dale Barnes, 86, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at his home in Alexander County.

He was born in Spokane, Washington, on Tuesday, April 12, 1938, to the late Bynum and Ruby Haynes Barnes but grew up in Charlotte. During his working career, Mr. Barnes was a truck driver for the National Linen Company. Jimmy was a member of Three Forks Baptist Church. He loved his church and the Lord.

Jimmy also loved his wife, whom he adoringly nicknamed “Sally.” He cherished all moments spent with his family making memories with them.
Going to his mountain home to spend time was something Jimmy always looked forward to. He liked fishing, bowling, golfing, and boxing. He enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves, Redskins, NC State basketball, and NASCAR and was a Richard Petty fan.

Including his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Smith, and fur baby, Ginger.

Those left to cherish the memories of Jimmy include his wife of 52 years, Madge Wilson Barnes; sons, Danny Barnes (Stephanie) and Brian Barnes; grandchildren, Crysti Cannon (Patrick), Jessica Smith, Jaycee Barnes, and Jordan Barnes; several great-grandchildren; and cousin and best friend, Janet McFadden and husband Bill.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Alexander Funeral Service from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at Three Forks Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery in Charlotte. Dr. Carson Moseley will officiate.
