Jimmy P. Hollar, 90, of Taylorsville, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at Valley Nursing Center.
Jimmy was born December 4, 1934, in Catawba County, the son of the late George Carl Hollar and Blanche Sigmon Hollar.
Jimmy proudly served in the United States Army, where he was stationed in China. He worked for R. H. Bouligny, Inc. building powerlines in 13 states for over 45 years. He was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church. He enjoyed NASCAR racing and loved his wife, family, and his job.
Including his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Ruby Jean Hollar, Betty Colleen Moore, Georgie Ruth Hollar, and Nancy Jane Willis; and a brother, Lloyd “Babe” Hollar.
Those left to cherish and honor Jimmy’s memories include his wife of 63 years, Emma Jean Bowman Hollar; his son, Jeffrey Powell Hollar (Michelle) of Taylorsville; his sister, Linda Hollar Sells of Mooresville; his brother-in-law, Lanny Bowman; nieces, Dawn Martin and Tammy Morrow; nephews, Ritchie Setzer, Tracy Setzer, Todd Morrow, and Johnny Sells; and a number of great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
The funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Smyrna Baptist Church. Pastor Mitch King will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from Noon until 1 p.m. prior to the service.
