Jill Waugh Marsh

Jill Waugh Marsh, 75, of Taylorsville, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2025, after a long and courageous journey with health complications. Born on July 20, 1949, to Dorothy “Dot” Dagenhart Waugh and James Ronald Waugh, Jill grew up in Iredell County and was a proud graduate of South Iredell High School.

Early in her working life, Jill brought joy and beauty to others as a hairdresser. She later served faithfully for many years as a secretary in the ICU at Iredell Memorial Hospital, where her dedication and compassionate spirit supported both patients and medical staff alike. Due to ongoing health challenges, she was forced to step away from work, but she continued to face each day with courage and grace.

When her health allowed, Jill found joy in camping in the mountains near Mt. Airy and Linville, especially along the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway—a cherished tradition spanning three generations. She also enjoyed worship with her church family at East Taylorsville Baptist Church.

Jill was preceded in death by her parents, Dot and Ronald Waugh; her brother, Ronnie Waugh; and many cherished furry companions who brought her comfort and companionship throughout her life.

She is survived by her devoted husband and caregiver, Billy Marsh; her daughter, Jenny Armstrong (Tony); grandchildren, Noah, Caleb, and Olivia; great-grandson, Anthony; and her treasured dog, Rambo. Jill also leaves behind a large extended family of in-laws, nieces, and nephews whom she loved dearly. She treasured every phone call and every visit.

In a final act of generosity, Jill chose to donate her body to Baptist Hospital for the advancement of medical science—an enduring gift that reflects her desire to help others.

The family wishes to express deep gratitude to the staff at Catawba Valley Medical Center for their tenderness and compassion during Jill’s final days, as well as to the many nurses and loved ones who have provided support and care over the years.

At this time, there are no plans for a formal memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Jill’s honor to support either diabetes research or an animal rescue organization—two causes close to her heart.
