Paul Calvin Hartman

Paul Calvin Hartman, 100, of Towanda, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at home Thursday evening, May 7, 2026. Born in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania, on January 19, 1926, he was the son of Calvin Andrew Hartman and Margaret Rose (Balliet) Hartman.

Paul was a 1944 graduate of Tamaqua High School, and on January 17, 1944, he enlisted with the U.S. Navy, where he served as an Electrician’s Mate during World War II until completion of his military service on May 29, 1946.

He was employed by ALCOA Aluminum for many years, until his retirement. Following his retirement, he moved to Taylorsville, where he was instrumental in the care and development of the Hickory Cove Bible Camp.

Paul was a dedicated member of East Taylorsville Baptist Church for many years, and in the following years, was a dedicated member of the Community Alliance Church in Monroeton, Pennsylvania. Paul was a devout Christian, and during his lifetime, he was moved to author five books reflecting on his Christian life experiences, which were, and continue to be, a blessing to many.

Paul’s family includes his son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Anne Hartman; daughter, Gail Coley; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Paul was predeceased by his wife, M. June Hartman, on November 12, 2014, and siblings, Cora Hartman, Ruth Hartman, Bruce Hartman, and Jane Fryer.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, PA, with Pastor Sean Truesdale of the Community Alliance Church officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Towanda, Pennsylvania, with full military honors accorded by Towanda American Legion Post No. 42 and Beirne-Webster VFW Post No. 1568, Towanda.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the Hickory Cove Bible Camp, 170 Ferguson Lane, Taylorsville, NC 28681.
