Robert Foy Cowart

Robert Foy Cowart, 88, born on July 2, 1937, in Emanuel County, Georgia, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2026, at Wilkes Medical Center in Wilkes County.

Robert proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He was known for his steadfast character and the dignity and kindness with which he treated others. To all who were fortunate enough to know him, Robert represented stability, warmth, and quiet strength. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church. Robert enjoyed watching sports. He loved and cherished his family and friends.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Foy and Ruby Cowart; wife, Nancy Gibson Cowart; brother, Carl Cowart; and sisters, Linda Martin and Bobbie Privette.

Those left to cherish the memories of Robert include his children, Kim Cowart and Robbie Cowart; brother-in-law, who was like a brother, Stanley Gibson; his cats, Buffy and Angel; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Monday, June 29, 2026, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Temple Baptist Church, located at 105 Temple Dr, Stony Point, NC 28678. The memorial service will be held on Monday, June 29, 2026, at Temple Baptist Church at 6:00 p.m. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery with full military rites. Rev. Jim McGraw will officiate.

The family will accept flowers, or donations may be made to Temple Baptist Church at PO Box 327, Stony Point, NC 28678.

Robert will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Robert’s legacy rests in the lives he touched and the memories he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed by those who knew him.
