William Eugene “Bug” Morrison
William Eugene “Bug” Morrison, 84, of Statesville, passed away Monday, February 20, 2017, at the Gordon Hospice House, following a period of declining health.
Mr. Morrison was born February 5, 1933, in Iredell County, son of the late Charles Glenn Morrison and Lucy Sipes Morrison. He was a graduate of Scotts High School and retired from the U.S. Air Force after 23 years, and the U.S Postal Service. During his time in the U.S. Air Force, he served during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. He was married to Mary Rosalyn Forbes Morrison, who survives, and was a member of New Amity ARP Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Kevin E. Morrison and William M. Morrison, both of Statesville; four grandchildren, Kevin E. Morrison, Jr., Matthew Glenn Morrison, Nicholas Dean Morrison, and Ryan David Morrison; a great-grandchild, Bentley Eugene Morrison; a brother, Kenneth Morrison of Maggie Valley; and two sisters, Dorothy M. Summers of Statesville, and JoAnn M. Payne of Statesville.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert R. Morrison and Charles L. Morrison.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 24, 2017, at New Amity ARP Church, with Rev. Earl Linderman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Thursday evening, 6-8 p.m., at Nicholson Funeral Home.
