Vernie Lee Poole

Vernie Lee Poole, 75, of Statesville, passed away May 26, 2018 at his home after a period of declining health, death was unexpected.

Vernie was born July 1, 1943 to the late William Lento and Martha Davis Welborn Poole.

Before his disability, he was employed by Godfrey Lumber as a loader operator. He was a member of Friendly Chapel Baptist Church.

He is survived by two sons, Ronnie Lee Poole and William Pyler Poole of Statesville; a daughter, Magdalene Poole of Statesville; a brother, Boyce Poole of Hiddenite; six sisters, Dorothy Richey of Statesville, Irene Weisman of Hiddenite, Shirley Moore, Barbara Dunford, and Joyce Welborn, all of Statesville, and Lillie Strickland of Wilkesboro.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, May 29, 2018, at 2:00 p.m., at the Chapman Funeral Home Chapel, 158 Stony Point School Drive, Stony Point, NC 28678. Rev. Steven Newman will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Friendly Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, 147 Isaac Road, Statesville, NC 28625.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Chapman Funeral Home, 158 Stony Point School Road, Stony Point, NC 28678.
