Florence Yount Teague

Florence Yount Teague, 98, of Hickory, passed away on Friday, September 28, 2018 at Catawba Regional Hospice.

Born December 1, 1919, in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late David Andrew Yount and Ollie Van Horn Yount.

In addition to her parents, Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Hurchel Teague.

Florence retired from Adams-Millis Corp. She was a long-time member of Antioch Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School of all age groups for over 50 years.

She was a very generous lady who strongly supported missions and saw to the needs of her family, friends, church, and community. When funds for the Educational Building were being raised, she pledged to pay for a room. She also provided much of the furnishings and appliances needed for the new building. She was well known for her cooking and baking, which she openhandedly gave away. She enjoyed her flowers and watching the birds.

Although she had no biological children of her own, she made up for it in many ways. She left numerous great nieces and nephews and many second and third generation cousins to cherish her memory. She will also be greatly missed by her friends and church family.

A celebration of her life will be held at 3:00 p.m., on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at Antioch Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Morris officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Teague will lie in state 30 minutes prior to services.
