Betty Rector Shook

Betty Rector Shook, 96, of Taylorsville, passed away on Monday, October 19, 2020 at her home.

Betty was born December 28, 1923, in Alexander County, the daughter of the late James Edward Mooney and Daphne Watts Mooney.

She was a longtime employee of Carolina Glove Mill and was a faithful and lifelong member of Dover Baptist Church. She loved her family and enjoyed traveling, especially to the beach.

Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Carl Eugene Rector; her second husband, Paul Daniel Shook; sister, Willie Pennell Brookshire; brothers, Glenn Mooney and Don Mooney; son-in-law, Steve Leroy Sipe; and brothers-in-law, Kenneth Patterson, Burl Cody, and Lindsey Pennell.

Those left to cherish and honor her memory include a daughter, Kay Rector Sipe (Craig Williams) of Taylorsville; son, Timmy Eugene Rector and wife Audrey of Taylorsville; grandchildren, Tiffany Renee Sipe Sprinkle and Kelsey Rector Anderson; great-grandchildren, Erica LaKaye Sprinkle, and Lainey and Luke Anderson; sisters, Joyce Patterson, Dolphine Cody, and Bobbie Nail and husband Butch, all of Taylorsville; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A private service will be held at Dover Baptist Church. Rev. Phil Jolly will officiate. No public visitation, but the body will lie-in-state from 1-3 p.m., Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at Adams Funeral Home Chapel for viewing.

    I loved Betty . She used to come to Marvin every other Sunday with Paul when he was living. We always sat together. She was very sweet.
