Clyde Leverne Hendren, 84, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on July 11, 2026, at his home in Alexander County. Born on September 5, 1941, in Alexander County, Clyde’s life was a testament to steadfast devotion to family, hard work, and cherished friendships.

Clyde’s deep roots in Alexander County shaped a lifetime marked by honest work and meaningful connections. He devoted 44 years of unwavering service to Sherrill Furniture Company before retiring, earning the respect and admiration of coworkers and friends alike.

Away from the workplace, Clyde found joy in ranching and the simple pleasures of being around Charolais cattle. He took great delight in horseback riding across the countryside, which he called home, and enjoyed classic cars, especially his 1960 Chevrolet Impala, often sharing stories and memories about them with those close to him. These passions reflected his appreciation for tradition, hard work, and the rewarding simplicity of country life.

To Clyde, nothing was more important than family. He loved his family deeply and found his greatest pride and joy in their company. He is survived by his devoted son, Bradley D. Hendren, and daughter-in-law, Dawn. His legacy continues in his cherished grandsons, Bradley “Darian” Hendren, II (Peanut) and Grayson Hunter Hendren (Popcorn), who brought him immense happiness, fulfillment, and love. Clyde’s life was further enriched by the friendships he cultivated over the years. Woody Childers, Larry Elder, Wayne Wilson, and Brent Fischer were among his closest friends. He is also survived by his brother, Jerry Dean Hendren, and wife, Annette, of Troutman, and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Graydon Erastus Hendren and Arcola Louise Wilson Hendren; his beloved wife of 58 years, Marlene Ruth Icenhour Hendren; and his sister, Linda Sue Hendren.

A visitation will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Alexander Funeral Service from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Taylorsville City Cemetery at 12:00 p.m. Rev. Neal Walker and Darren Earp will officiate.

Kevin Elder, Mark Elder, Grayson “Popcorn” Hendren, Darian “Peanut” Hendren, William D. Powell, and Darren Earp will serve as pallbearers.

Clyde will be remembered for his unwavering work ethic, steadfast love for his family, and quiet kindness to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will hold his memory dear in the days and years to come.
